How to Installing DisplayLink Driver

For Windows

  1. Download the DisplayLink Software:
  1. Run the Installer:
Once downloaded, double-click the file to begin installation
  1. Follow the Installation Wizard:
Follow the on-screen instructions. Accept the license agrreement and complete the setup process
  1. Restart Your Computer:
After installation is complete, you may be prompted to restart. Please do so to finalize the installation
  1. Connect the Dock:
After restarting, connect your DisplayLink-enabled dock to your laptop.
Windows should now recognize the dock and extend your display.

For macOS

  1. Download the DisplayLink Software:
  1. Install the Software:
Open the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions. If prompted, drag the DisplayLink app into
the Applications folder.
  1. Grant Screen Recording Permission:
macOS requires Screen Recording permission for DisplayLink to fuinction properly. This allows the driver to capture screen content and render it to the external display. No data, images, or pixels are recorded or sent back to DisplayLink or Synaptics
You'll be notified about this permission in three ways:
  • A macOS system prompt when the DisplayLink device is first connected
  • A notification from the DisplayLink driver each time a device is plugged in
  • A warning in the DisplayLink Manager app in the macOS staatus bar
To grant permission:
  • Open System Settings
  • Go to Privacy & Security > Screen Recording
  • Enable DisplayLink Manager
  • Authenticate with your login credentials
  • Click Quit & Reoper
  1. Automatic startup after login
Go to DisplayLink > Settings, check the option "Launch automatically after login" to ensure the app keeps running when you use the laptop.
  1. Restart Your Mac:
Restart your Mac to activate the DisplayLink.
  1. Connect the Dock:
Connect your DisplayLink-enabled dock to your Mac. Your external display should now be detected and
ready to use.
After successful setup, a new icon will appear in your macOS status bar when you use the DisplayLink Docking station to connect monitors with your laptop.
