Anker Innovations Initiates Global Voluntary Recall for Select Power Banks

Earlier this year, Anker implemented a series of enhanced quality assurance protocols designed to detect manufacturing issues earlier in the production cycle. These safeguards—including expanded component-level audits and supplier testing—helped us identify a potential issue with common, lithium-ion battery cells from a single vendor.

While the likelihood of malfunction is considered minimal, out of an abundance of caution, we have decided to initiate a voluntary global recall of several Anker power bank models. We have formally notified and are coordinating with regulatory authorities in all regions to ensure the recall is conducted in compliance with all applicable local guidelines.

The following products may be affected:
- Anker Power Bank (10K, 22.5W) — Model A1257
- Anker Power Bank (20,000mAh, 22.5W, Built-In USB-C Cable) — Model A1647
- Anker MagGo Power Bank (10,000mAh, 7.5W) — Model A1652
- Anker Zolo Power Bank (20K, 30W, Built-In USB-C and Lightning Cable) — Model A1681
- Anker Zolo Power Bank (20K, 30W, Built-In USB-C Cable) — Model A1689

How to Tell If You Have an Affected Power Bank

Step 1: Check your model number—located on the bottom or side of your power bank.
If it matches one of the following models (A1257, A1647, A1652, A1681, A1689), proceed to Step 2.

Step 2: Verify your serial number or submit your proof of purchase using our online recall form: http://www.anker.com/my/rc2506-form

Note: Please carefully review the letters and numbers in your serial number, such as "1," "L," "l," "2," and "Z." Characters like "0" (zero) and "O" (letter O) are easily confused. Affected serial numbers do not contain the letters "O" or "I."

If your unit is confirmed to be part of the recall, please submit the Recall Claim form

If your product is confirmed to be affected:
- Stop using the device immediately.
- Do not dispose of the power bank until you receive confirmation from Anker that your unit qualifies.
Refer to the section titled "How to Safely Dispose of Your Power Bank" below.

How to Safely Dispose of Your Power Bank

After receiving confirmation from Anker that your unit qualifies for a replacement or gift card, please dispose of the affected unit at a certified facility that accepts recalled lithium-ion batteries.

Do not discard this recalled lithium-ion battery in the trash, general recycling streams (e.g., street-level or curbside recycling bins), or in used battery drop-off boxes commonly found at retail or home improvement stores. These drop-off points are not equipped to handle recalled lithium-ion products like power banks.

Recalled lithium-ion batteries must be handled differently from regular batteries because they pose a higher risk of fire. Your local Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) collection center may accept this power bank for safe disposal. Before visiting, contact the facility to confirm whether it accepts lithium-ion battery-powered devices from recall programs.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the issue with the power bank?

We identified a potential manufacturing issue involving lithium-ion battery cells supplied by a single vendor. These cells—commonly used in the consumer electronics industry—were included in five PowerCore models sold in multiple markets.
This issue was detected through enhanced quality assurance protocols Anker implemented following a previous recall. While the likelihood of malfunction is considered minimal, we are initiating a voluntary recall out of an abundance of caution.

Where can I find the model number and the serial number on my product?

The product serial number is usually printed on the side or back of the product. Please refer to the image below.

- Anker Zolo Power Bank (20K, 30W, Built-In USB-C Cable) — Model A1689

What should I do if my power bank is affected?

- Immediately stop using the unit.
- Do not dispose of it until your recall eligibility has been confirmed.
- Click the "Submit Recall" button for instructions on how to request a replacement or gift card.

What will I receive if my power bank is included?

You will be eligible to receive a replacement power bank. If replacements are not currently available, you may choose to receive a $34.99 Anker gift card or wait for the replacement to ship.

Can I continue using the power bank if it seems fine?

No. Even if the device appears to function normally, any unit confirmed to be part of this recall should be stopped from use immediately due to the risk of overheating, melting, smoke, or fire.

How should I dispose of the recalled power bank?

After receiving confirmation from Anker that your unit qualifies for a replacement or gift card, please dispose of the affected unit at a certified facility that accepts recalled lithium-ion batteries.
Do not discard this recalled lithium-ion battery in the trash, general recycling streams (e.g., street-level or curbside recycling bins), or in used battery drop-off boxes commonly found at retail or home improvement stores. Why are there multiple recalls happening this year?

This recall is part of a broader quality assurance initiative implemented earlier this year. We've expanded component-level testing and supplier audits to detect issues earlier in the production cycle. These improvements helped us identify the affected battery cells. We remain committed to ongoing enhancements in quality and safety across all Anker battery products.
